Currently a Ph.D. student in Biotechnology at Faculty of Biotechnology of the Catholic University of Portugal with a project aiming at the development and characterization of a new synbiotic gut biomodulator and the study of its effect against foodborne enteropathogens. Diana holds a BSc degree in Biology from the Faculty of Sciences of Porto University (FCUP), and a MSc degree in Microbiology from the University of Aveiro. As yet she has authored 4 peer-reviewed articles in journals and participated in 3 book chapters, plus several posters/oral communications is scientific conferences. Moreover, she co-supervised a Microbiology undergraduate student. Additionally, Diana has also participated in several outreach activities promoted by ESBUCP/CBQF over the years. The main areas of interest in research are largely focused on microbiology, with emphasis in next-generation probiotics research and microbiome studies, and also biotechnological strategies such as microencapsulation.
