Hélder has a BSc in Applied Biology and a MSc in Plant Molecular Biology, Biotechnology and Bioentrepreneurship from the University of Minho, where he worked with both plant and yeast models. He completed his PhD in Health Sciences at the School of Medicine, University of Minho. His research focused on the yeast model to study ageing, protein homeostasis and extracellular vesicles.
Hélder is part of the Strain Design and Fermentation Lab, Yeast Fingerprint platform, where the aim is to develop innovative solutions from yeast, and to characterize and optimize fermentation to design clean, efficient synthesis of many compounds.
