Fundamental Rights Lecture: The scope of application of the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights

This year Fundamental Rights's Lecture, delivered by Luísa Lourenço (Legal Officer, European Chemicals Agency), will focus on the analysis the scope of application of the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union and its limitations, as established by Article 51 thereof and developed by the case law of the European Court of Justice (eg. C-617/10, Fransson; C-206/13, Siragusa). It will furthermore consider the role of general principles of EU law in the protection of fundamental rights, and their relationship with the Charter. (eg. C-414/16, Egenberger, C-68/17, IR).
