Faculdade de Direito | Sala EAA003 | Edifício Américo Amorim / Américo Amorim Building
In the scope of the ISP Programme, Olivier Corten, professor at the Faculty of Law of ULB, will give a seminar on “The International juridical field”.
This seminar aims to provide a critical understanding of public international law which is largely determined by the absence of a universal political power capable of enforcing the rules of law. The thread that will link the presentation of the different parts of the course is the following: international law is essentially subject to a tension opposing aspiration to moral values that are supposedly universal in scope and consideration of political imperatives linked to the interests of States. The objective of the course is to transmit this logic, in order to allow each student to implement it in concrete cases. The aim of the course is thus, on the one hand, to teach the fundamental principles of public international law and, on the other hand, to transmit an approach allowing them to apprehend legal question following a critical perspective.
Speaker:
Olivier Corten
