No âmbito do projeto cinematográfico American Film Showcase, a Embaixada dos EUA em Portugal, em parceria com o FEST Espinho, traz a Portugal o produtor de Hollywood, Alan Poul, realizador e produtor de séries como Sete Palmos de Terra, The Newsroom e Westworld.

No dia 3 de Novembro, das 10:00 às 12:00, realiza-se uma masterclass na Universidade Católica - Porto. No início da masterclass será projetado o documentário The Art of Television (25’) sobre Alan Poul. Seguir-se-á uma conversa informal com o produtor.

 

 

Producer Alan Poul – Bio Note

As a Director, Producer and Showrunner, Alan Poul has received an Emmy Award, a Golden Globe Award, two Producers Guild Awards, four GLAAD Awards and three Peabody Awards.  Alan served as Showrunner and Director of HBO’s multi-award winning series Six Feet Under for the show’s entire five-season run garnering him a directing Emmy and Director’s Guild Award.  Alan was the Producer and a Director on Aaron Sorkin’s Golden Globe-nominated series The Newsroom

 He Executive Produced and Directed CBS’ provocative drama Swingtown, and he also directed multiple episodes of HBO’s Rome and Big Love. Poul made his feature-directing debut with the romantic comedy The Back-up Plan. Prominent in Poul’s other TV work has been his close collaboration with author Armistead Maupin, resulting in three miniseries based on Maupin’s Tales of the City books (Tales of the City, More Tales of the City, Further Tales of the City), each of which was nominated for an Emmy award.

 He also produced the beloved series My So-Called Life for ABC, the Peabody Award-winning Rock the Vote Special, and the Emmy-winning PBS documentary series The Pacific Century. His writings have appeared in The New York Times Book ReviewVariety, Film Comment, and Egg Magazine. Alan currently serves as a Consulting Producer for the acclaimed HBO series Westworld.
