The Portuguese team of the MERLINO Project collected data from 105 youngsters fulfilling justice measures ("high risk sample") and from 621 youngsters without any contact with the justice system ("school/community sample").
Instruments
In each country, the MERLINO teams used a common tool - "MERLINO Survey" - to collect data.
MERLINO survey is a self-report instrument that comprises several items about the youngsters' life, namely the concerns, feelings, free time activities, victimization experience, use of drugs, unlawful conduct, contacts of the youngster and his/her family with the justice system, etc.
Data Collection
In Portugal, data were collected until the end of September 2014 among youngsters from both samples in the North (Oporto) as well as in the South (Lisbon, Sintra, Setúbal) of the country.
Data Analysis
Data from all the countries has been inserted on a common database. National data was also inserted on a Portuguese database. Data analysis was completed by the end of February 2015.
