Em praticamente todas as culturas do que se pode designar por mundo antigo, numa cronologia sempre sujeita a revisões, é possível reconhecer a existência de religiões enquanto sistema de comunicação com o divino e outros seres. Tendo como objetivo contribuir para um conhecimento mais profundo da religião no mundo antigo, desde a religião egípcia, passando pelas tradições religiosas da Grécia Antiga e do mundo romano, até mesmo ao cristianismo antigo, este Colóquio pretende também discutir o problema do Outro, na sua multiplicidade, e de como ele é constantemente construído discursivamente e através das práticas sociais e religiosas que, por um lado, levam a transformações profundas na própria comunidade que observa e, por outro, provocam reações naquilo que é observado.

Summary

Current trends in human feeding promote a more plant-based diet, for several reasons, including ethical and environmental concerns. Thus, the demand for innovative and sustainable plant-based solutions is increasing exponentially. Such products must meet not only the nutritional requirements for a healthy diet but also be widely acceptable by the consumers in terms of flavour and texture, while being produced in an environmental-friendly manner and with the least possible industrial manipulations. Several plant bases can be used as raw materials for the manufacture of such food products, taking into consideration their specific characteristics, the most common being legumes, nuts, cereals, and tubers. This project, which was developed in collaboration with Frulact, S.A., aimed at developing and characterizing several plant-based concentrates that can be (and were, indeed) employed in the production of plant-based foods.

Skin Tissue Engineering

On the 28th of November, at 5:30pm, there will be a seminar on skin tissue engineering. This seminar will address the current state-of-the-art in skin tissue engineering as well as top-notch strategies for bioprinting of skin substitutes. Current tissue engineered skin fails to meet the need for skin replacement in full-thickness wounds. Bioprinting technology allows for organization of multiple cell types into biomimetic layers.

Speaker

Adam M. Jorgensen

Adam M. Jorgensen is an M.D./Ph.D. Candidate and NIH/NIAMS F30 NRSA Fellow working in the Atala lab at the Wake Forest Institute for Regenerative Medicine. His research focuses on 3D bioprinting skin for full-thickness wound healing. His other research pursuits include the generation of a novel spherical skin organoid for in vitro drug testing and dermatologic disease modeling, the use of both cellular and acellular hydrogels and scaffolds for wound healing applications, and biofabrication of hair follicles. He is an NIH/NIAMS F30 NRSA fellowship recipient for his thesis research on “Integration and remodeling of bioprinted skin in full-thickness wound healing.” His findings to date have resulted in two first-author publications, including one featured as the current cover of Tissue Engineering, Part A; 11 peer-reviewed abstracts with associated presentations at local, national, and international conferences; and eight research awards, including the 2019 Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine International Society–AM Mary Ann Liebert, Inc. Outstanding Student Award and an invited participant at the 2020 Society for Investigative Dermatology Future Leaders Post-Doctoral Retreat, all within the first year of this NIAMS F30 NRSA fellowship.

No contexto do projeto “MAIEC- Community Empowerment and Nursing Decision-Making” sediado no Centro de Investigação Interdisciplinar em Saúde da UCP, vai realizar-se o primeiro congresso com as evidências produzidas nos quatro domínios do projeto: “MAIEC e Comunidades Escolares”, “MAIEC e Comunidades Hospitalares”, “MAIEC e Processos Ambientais” e “MAIEC e Observatórios dos Diagnósticos de Enfermagem”. Investigadores e colaboradores do projeto vão ser voz destas evidências, nestes vários contextos.

O Congresso vai incluir o Encontro Internacional “Desafios das alterações climáticas: A Enfermagem como Inovação”, contando com ilustres palestrantes nacionais e internacionais da área da Biologia (Doutor Ulisses Miranda Azeiteiro da Universidade de Aveiro), Arquitetura (Doutor Robert Ryan da Universidade de Massachussets, EUS), Enfermagem (Drª Maria João Costa, bolseira FCT do CIIS) e Política (Drª Inês Sousa Real, deputada do PAN). Conta-se ainda com uma conferência internacional, proferida pela referência mundial em Empoderamento Comunitário e Saúde Pública, o Doutor Glenn Laverack, da Universidade de Trento, Itália.
